Carol Lynn Hawn (born Carol Lynn Edwards), age 72, of Modesto, CA, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024. She was surrounded by her family when she went to be with Jesus. Carol bravely battled pancreatic cancer for three years.
She was a loving wife of nearly 53 years to Lindsay L. Hawn, mother to two daughters, Emily (Matthew) Damante and April (Jeremy) Brown, and grandma to six. She leaves behind a sister, Donna Cope. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilford Bradner and Nina LeVeta Edwards, as well as sister, Sharon, and brothers, William, Michael, and Timothy.
Carol enjoyed the beauty of lighthouses, going to the beach (especially in Hawaii where the water was warm), bowling, playing the french horn, and singing in the choir. She led the Joyful Noise children’s choir at First Baptist Church of Modesto for years. Carol followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a wonderful baker and cake decorator, and she took joy in passing that talent on to her daughters and grandchildren.
Carol was a small business owner in Modesto, CA, for over 30 years. She operated On Your Toes Lively Arts Boutique until her mother was ready to retire, and then Carol took over running the family business, Edwards Cake & Candy Supplies. She continued to serve the community with baking supplies throughout Covid and until she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in late 2021. Her daughters have taken the reins of the family business to carry on the family tradition.
The family is in the process of arranging a Celebration of Life and will announce the details soon.
