Mrs Winifred "Winnie" Joanne (Lang) Anderson

Winifred “Winnie” Joanne (Lang) Anderson, 92, passed away peacefully April 24, 2019 on hospice at the home of Nancy and Mark Chase in Olympia Washington.

She was born June 5 1926 in Olympia Washington to Frank “Mick” Lee and Vera Naomi (Hart) Lang.

Winnie was a life long resident of Washington State and graduated from Olympia High School in 1944, attended one year at Washington State College, and two years at San Francisco School of Fine Arts.

Her employment life was mother, housewife, telephone operator, and shopkeeper, and artist.

Winnie and John Anderson fulfilled a dream of moving to rural Eastern Washington with their younger children, and operated Barstow Store from 1977 to 1980.

She enjoyed her family and network of friends, “a people person”. Over the years she participated in Episcopal church, Pi Beta Phi sorority, Tacoma Orthopedic/Mary Bridge guild, Eagles aux, Kettle River Grange, Kettle River Medical Clinic Lay Board, Barstow/Orient Food Pantry Board, Stream Team/Henderson water shed council, Catholic Community Service volunteer, Delta Society pet therapy volunteer with her beloved dog, Leroy, painting with her artist friends at “The Loft”, and weekly card games with “the card playing ladies”.

Winnie is survived by her sister Marylou Lang Brayton York of Escalon California, brother Dr. Frank A Lang (Suzanne) of Ashland Oregon, and children, Madalene Anderson, Carol Middleton, Nancy Chase (Mark), David Anderson, Sarah Wrangler (Peter), Laura Koshney (Albert) and grandchildren: Eli Sellers, Matthew Sellers, Juniper Yantis (Derek), Jesse Chase, Megan Anderson, Cameron Anderson, Ryan Fraser (Lauren), Anna Fraser, John Fraser, Lydia Koshney, Evelyn Koshney, Grace Koshney and great-grandchild, Bradley Fraser.

She was preceded in death by parents Frank and Vera Lang, spouse John “Jack” Allen Anderson, and son William “Willie” Laughrey Anderson.
