Born and raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts, he never regretted his decision to move to the great Pacific Northwest, residing in Olympia WA for the past 28yrs.
He was an avid sports fan, rooting for the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox, and in that order. He always appreciated a good game and a good meal. He was a "numbers" man, fascinated with weather and sports statistics. His recall of times, dates, and events was most remarkable, almost total. He was affectionally called "The Time Keeper" by his sister and best friend, Debbie.
He bravely faced many health challenges throughout his life, the last five years being extremely difficult, causing his need for assisted living. Although he was very limited in his ability and mobility, he had an attitude of gratitude in all things and felt very blessed to have been able to enjoy social interaction with his community of residents and staff at the Sequoia Assistant Living Community.
If there is such a thing as a smile in a voice, Billy had it. His cheerful greetings just seemed to lift the spirits of others.
He was a man of faith and looked forward to being with His Savior. He left behind a well-worn Bible. One of many highlighted Scripture verses was Psalm 73:26. "My flesh and my heart fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
On the back page of his Bible, he had written: "God is good all the time and all the time God is good. God continues to fill me with His grace and mercy. God has invited me to have fellowship with Him and I have accepted the invitation. Praise God!" His lifetime verse is Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes..."
Bill is survived by his two sisters; Debbie Funchion and her husband Michael of Olympia, WA, and Laurie Patten and her husband Lance of Effingham N.H., nieces, nephews, and his two precious grand nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Wm.K. Lawson Jr. and Lillian Lawson.
