Ted attended Eastern Washington University where he played football and earned conference accolades. After college, Ted joined the US Army from 1960-64, serving in Germany when the Berlin wall was erected. Upon return from military service, he graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in 1967.
Ted then moved to Olympia where he worked at the Washington State Attorney General’s office. Soon thereafter, he joined a law firm in Olympia known as Brodie, Fristoe & Taylor which soon became Brodie, Fristoe, Taylor & Schultz. Ted committed countless hours serving his community on the board for Morningside, the South Puget Sound Community College Foundation Board as well as the Western Institution Review Board. Ted was also a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Thurston County Bar Association and the 5 ½ - 21 Society (Poker Club).
Ted courted his beloved wife Sue Ann for many years before she finally consented to marry him, on September 30, 1990.
Ted cherished spending time and traveling with Sue and their many friends. He loved Jazz and had 29 Dave Brubeck CD’s/Albums. He valued a good game of poker, coming up with a witty limerick as well as making people laugh with his quick and wry humor. He loved all his children and grandchildren. Ted will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Ann Lyle, her daughter Robyn Ahrenholtz (children Dylan Trude and Carson Vilhelmsen), his children; daughter Debra Anderson (husband Robert, children Tessa Sheldon, Paige Anderson and Claire Anderson), daughter Dyan Gregory (husband Jason, children Cameron Huhta and Olivia Huhta) and son David Schultz (wife Kristi, children Samuel Theodore Schultz, Natalie Schultz and Jenna Schultz).
In lieu of flowers the family suggests making donations to your favorite charity in his name or donate to one of Ted’s favorites; Morningside or SPSCC Foundation.
His Celebration of Life will be held at the Indian Summer Country Club (5900 Troon Ln SE, Olympia 98501) on Sunday, April 21st at 1:00 PM.
