Our beloved Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma & Great-Great-Grandma went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, in the comfort of her own home in Olympia, WA. Lois was born June 30, 1924 in Denver, CO and then lived in Newport, OR with her parents Frank & Ellen Smith until she graduated from high school. She later moved to Sequim, WA after marrying Oswald “Bud” Gibbs in 1947. They eventually made their home in Lacey, WA. Bud preceded Lois in death in 1993. Lois retired from the Washington State Highway Department where she loved her job as an office clerk/administrative assistant.
Lois was one of the biggest-hearted people you would ever meet and was always there with a helping hand in any way that she was able. She had a beautiful smile and was a friend to all. Lois was an avid Mariners fan. She loved traveling with Bud, and for many years after his passing she continued to travel with friends and family. She enjoyed gardening, needlework and mainly spending time with her family. She was a member of Evergreen Christian Community for many years.
Lois is survived by her children: Sherrie (Jim) Ripley of Olympia, WA, James (Genovava) Gibbs of Jose Panganiban Philippines, and Mike (Linda) Gibbs of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her Grandchildren: Bret (Debbie) Ripley of Olympia, WA, Carrie (Tom) Powell of Rochester, WA, Laurie (Ryan) Wiedenmeyer of Olympia, WA, and Jim (Brenda) Gibbs of Marysville, WA. She was also very proud of her Great-Grandchildren and her Great-Great-Grandchildren: Leila (Brian) Willard and their children Josiah and Selah, Reini (Clint) Side and their daughter Felicity, Stephanie (Lasse) Lund and their children Aria and Noah, Cameron Bergeron, Kirsten (Joshua) Jolly and their daughter Aurora, Karilynn (James) Bradwisch, Katrina Gibbs, Jianna Wiedenmeyer and Jonessa Wiedenmeyer. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends a special thank you to her Capital Place family that was always there for her. A celebration of her life will be held at Capital Place Retirement Center, 700 Black Lake Blvd SW, Olympia, WA on Saturday April 20th at 11:00 a.m. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Neighborhood Christian Center Missionary Fund, CareNet Pregnancy Center, or to your favorite charity.
