Jim, 80, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011. He was born June 19, 1930 in Aberdeen, WA, to Edwin and Winifred Glay Arnold. Jim attended St Michaels Elementary School and graduated from St Martin's High School. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Abbot from October 17, 1950 until his honorable discharge August 13, 1954. While stationed in RI, Jim met Catherine (Kitty) Mary Fidler of Boston, MA on a blind date. Jim and Kitty married December 20, 1953 and after his discharge from the Navy, settled in Olympia to raise their family. Jim retired from Crown Cork & Seal in 1993. He enjoyed hobbying and crafts with his wife and tinkering in his shop. Jim loved to help others, possessed a mischievous wit and adored his wife, Kitty.
Survivors include Jim's wife, Catherine; children: James E. Arnold Jr, Kim Robert Arnold, Suzanne Theresa Gore, and David Francis Arnold; 9 grandchildren; and his sister, Joyce Wilmoth.
