Cheryl Sponek-Smith, a devoted mother, compassionate medical assistant, and beloved sister, departed from this world on August 4, 2023, in Lacey, Washington. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
Born on December 14, 1959, in Shelton, Washington, Cheryl was a shining light from the moment she entered this world. She grew up alongside her twin sister, Patsy Johnson, and her adoring sisters, Jackie McClinton, Debbie Borja, half sister Kristine VanderWal and step sister Julie Saeger . Cheryl's nurturing spirit was evident from an early age, and she carried this trait into her professional life.
Cheryl's commitment to healthcare led her to a fulfilling career as a dedicated medical assistant at Kaiser Permanente. Her warm smile, kind demeanor, and unwavering dedication to her patients made her an invaluable member of the healthcare community. Cheryl's colleagues and patients alike were touched by her compassion and genuine concern for the well-being of others.
Outside of her professional achievements, Cheryl's most cherished roles were those of a loving mother and sister. She raised two wonderful daughters, Rachael Oliver and Kathleen Smith, with boundless love, support, and guidance. Her daughters will forever carry her legacy of strength, kindness, and resilience.
Cheryl also embraced the role of adoring grandmother to two grandsons, a joy that added a new dimension to her life. Her love for these precious boys was immeasurable and brought her immeasurable happiness.
Cheryl's close-knit family provided her with a strong foundation of love and support. She shared an unbreakable bond with her twin sister, Patsy, and her sisters, Jackie and Debbie. Their shared memories, laughter, and camaraderie formed the fabric of a close and loving sibling relationship that will endure through time.
As we reflect on Cheryl's life, let us remember her for her unwavering love, her selflessness, and her dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of those around her. Though she may no longer be with us in person, Cheryl's spirit will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Cheryl's life will be held on September 16th, 2023 at 2 pm at Evergreen Christian Community, address is: 1000 Black Lake Blvd SW, Olympia, WA 98502
