In 1950, the Buster family headed west, moving to Hillsboro, Oregon, where Carol lived during her childhood being with her family and friends. Carol got to find her love for the little things that she carried on during her life such as yummy peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, and delicious blackberry cobbler. She had wonderful memories with her sisters where in photos you see laughter, smiles, and even silly moments when they stick their tongues out being teenagers. Carol went to Hillsboro High School where she graduated in 1966, and one year later married her High School Sweetheart, Stephen Fosmark in 1967. They were blessed with two sons, Greggory (Mary) , and Jeffrey (Kate).
In the span of 23 years, Carol and Stephen got to take their children to different areas of the world while Stephen was stationed in various bases in the United States Airforce. Their opportunities sent them overseas to live in places like Guam and England. Returning back to mainland, the family was able to get a taste of the deep south of Mississippi, Virginia, and lastly heading all the way back to Olympia, Washington, where Stephen retired from the Airforce at McChord Airforce Base. Carol was a working mother during all of these times. Her final job was in the Travel Department at McChord until she happily retired in 2007 Carol has built many relationships with great co-workers who turned into lifelong friends that she would meet with for lunches and keep in close touch.
In her free time, (including pre-retirement) Carol loved to travel. She had opportunities of exploring the land from down under in Australia, and soaking up some of that warm tropical sunshine in Hawaii. Carol enjoyed most by taking trips with her family. This included road trips, camping, and even seeing beautiful Seaside Oregon beach for 4th of July.
Carol's loving spirit warmed many hearts. She had a deep commitment to Jesus Christ. She was an avid member of the Mountainview Nazarene Church in Tumwater, WA.
She loved her family and was blessed with many Grandchildren she got to do her Christmas tradition with which includes delicious clam chowder. This tradition she carried from her memories as a little girl that continues to live on today. She loved to cook delicious meals and have family dinners. Carol's favorite part of cooking was baking delicious desserts which included blackberry cobbler, sweet potato casserole, and any type of dessert that included coconut which was her absolute favorite sweet treat.
Having a family and Grandchildren gave Carol a joyful experience. Grandchildren include
[Greggory and Mary] Ashley Sorenson (Joshua), Stephen Fosmark, Greggory Fosmark, [Jeffrey and Kate] Sophie Boothby (Vincent), Jackson Fosmark, and Nicholas Fosmark who she all loved and adored.
During the last four years of her life, Carol was facing health challenges that moved her from her home in Lacey, Washington, into Providence Mother Joseph Care Facility in Olympia, Washington. Carol made the best of her time as she got to know the Residents and Staff. She was designated as an Activities Coordinator and liaison with the Care Staff. She loved her team of Nurses, CNA's and other faculty at Providence Mother Joseph's.
