Bonnie Rita Jobe was born in Helena, Montana on March 3, 1940. When she was three years old, Bonnie and her older sister Darlene were adopted by Roland and Edna Jobe. The Jobe’s moved Bonnie and Darlene to Butte, Montana and that’s where Bonnie grew up.
Bonnie met Dick Blewett at the First Baptist Church in Butte. They were married in Deer Lodge, Montana on October 19, 1959. They raised five children; Tina, Roland, David, Kathy, and Tonia. Because of Dick’s career, they moved seventeen times and lived in five different states; Montana, California, Oregon, Wisconsin, and Washington.
Out of necessity, Bonnie taught herself how to sew, and she became an accomplished seamstress. She made a lot of the kids’ clothes, Halloween costumes, many of our square dance outfits, formal dresses, appliqué sweatshirts, and gifts for family and friends. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, was pretty good at building puzzles, liked to go camping and hiking, and thoroughly enjoyed playing board and card games with family and friends.
Bonnie was particularly passionate about traveling. She had visited 30 US states, 17 National Parks, and 22 foreign countries. The opportunity to see beautiful scenery, tour exotic places, experience different cultures, and meet new people really appealed to her. She had a sense of adventure that was insatiable.
Bonnie also led an active social life. Her sparkling eyes, engaging smile, pleasant laugh, and general aura endeared her to everyone she met. She liked to dance and was especially fond of square dancing. She was active in the community; Campfire Girls, Little League Baseball, sororities, square dance organizations, community organizations, party hostess, etc.
Bonnie suffered a heart attack on June 26 that caused her other vital organs to begin failing. After a few days on full life support with no signs of improvement, the family decided to let her go. Bonnie died on July 3, 2021 with several family members in attendance. She is survived by her husband Dick, her five children, her older sister Darlene (Jobe) Scott, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.
