In December of 2021, he was presented a Congressional Gold Medal; given to Chinese American Veterans for their honorable armed service during World War II.
Wing and his wife, Sally, owned and operated ABC Market, a neighborhood grocery store for twenty years. Together they worked twelve to thirteen hour days and grew their business into a successful neighborhood market. They focused on customer service, knew people by name, provided credit as needed, and offered delivery service for large grocery purchases. Eventually the store and property were sold.
Wing and Sally enjoyed forty plus years of retirement together. They were active members of the Chinese community. He spent time gardening, socializing, traveling, playing mahjong, and being with family.
Wing was a part of a group of individuals known as The Greatest Generation. From his humble beginnings as a 14 year old boy moving to a foreign land, he will be remembered for: his service to his adopted country, being a prosperous business owner, and his devotion and loyalty to friends and family.
