Thomas H. Browning

Thomas "Tom" Harrison Browning was a strong and kind husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all, a man who was generous in every aspect of his life, holding the highest integrity in business and in family. We are saddened to say, he was escorted home by angels on Wednesday November 24, 2021 at the age of 82.

Tom was born on May 10, 1939 to Freda and Harrison Browning in Shaker Heights, Ohio. His family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1948 where he attended Green Fields College Preparatory school before becoming the first graduating class of Catalina High School. Then off to the University of Arizona, where he was a student manager for baseball and was initiated into the Alpha Nu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity.

After graduation, he joined his father full time at Arizona Gear, the family business, where he met his beautiful bride to be Wanda. In 1969 not only did he become a devoted husband, but he also stepped into the role of loving father to Tamera and Vince. Tom was proud and honored to be a father, grandfather and great-grandfather as a major presence in all our lives. As he was many times the target of his wife’s shenanigans, he taught us the importance of joy, laughter, and unconditional love.

Tom dedicated all of his life to helping others and in service to his faith. As a member of the Rotary Club of Tucson, for over 50 years, he was able to stay connected to the community and give back through numerous charites. He also drove the bus for New Testament Baptist Church and assisted numerous local businesses with setting up accounting procedures, always willing to give his time and expertise to any and all that needed help. When he was not helping others he was exploring the beautiful wonders of this land one step at a time, hiking places like the Grand Canyon, Madera Canyon and Mount Lemmon.

Tom will be forever remembered for his bright smile, gentle eyes and caring heart. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven smiling down on us.

He is survived by his loving wife Wanda, daughter Tamera, son Vince, several grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

A visitation for Thomas will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021; beginning at 10:00 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712. Funeral service will follow at 11:00, with then burial.
