Shannon Patricia Ames

In the song of life, Shannon Patricia Ames was surely the composer. A very observant woman who would rather spend her time creating than talking, Shannon preferred to live in a world of harmony where everything around her made sense. In fact, she depended on her sensory world to provide her with concrete data. A free spirit, Shannon believed that actions definitely spoke for themselves. She seemed to know what fit and what didn’t fit in everything she did. Shannon perceived that all of life’s possibilities were open to her, yet she lived with a definite sense of purpose. She was a woman who was always ready to share her creations with those around her.

      Shannon was born on May 9, 1992 at Mountain Home AFB Hospital in Mountain Home, Idaho. Her parents were Michael and Caroline Ames. Shannon was raised in England, Idaho, Virginia and Arizona. As a young child, Shannon was optimistic in her outlook. She sought out the possibilities in a given situation and looked for ways to apply her creative energies. Shannon rarely calling attention to herself, her message was clearly understood by those around her.

      Early on in her family relationships, Shannon showed that she was a tolerant and flexible person, and she got along fairly well with everyone. She was raised with Two siblings. She had two older brothers, James and Ryan. She was a calm and playful child who was adaptable to any situation.

      As she was growing up, Shannon developed into a person who enjoyed physically doing things, and she took pleasure in using her hands in order to create. Shannon liked concrete things. Growing up, Shannon took part in tumbling. In her spare time she liked movies and music. Shannon's memorable achievements included she was able to bring out the kindness and love in people when we needed it the most. However, to Shannon, the most fun she had was spending time with family.

      Early on in her school years, Shannon showed an interest in learning, especially when it came to subjects in the arts. At times, school learning did not provide Shannon with sufficient challenges. Her passion for fine arts was so keen that fellow students and even her teachers recognized it. She graduated from Palo Verde High School in 2014. She enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers. Her favorite class in high school was Art.

      Shannon was an Air Force Dependent. She followed her Dad to Mountain Home AFB, RAF Lakenheath, Langley AFB. Each move came with new challenges; enrolling in new schools, making new friends, and a new support network had to be attained to tend to her special needs.

      Shannon’s faith was important to her. She was a member of St. Pancreas in Ipswich England and Pantano Christian Church Tucson, Az. Shannon's passionate commitment to upholding her values placed her at home in her religion, where she took comfort in the company of others who believed as she did.

      Because she loved the world around her, Shannon enjoyed traveling and going away on vacations. It was an opportunity for her to kick back and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Shannon put her personal trademark on any leisure planning that she undertook. Favorite vacations included camping with her family in England and sightseeing.

      Shannon was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of Shannon’s favorites was Amber, a King Charles Cavalier. They were best friends for 12 years. Her family was rounded out by her other two dogs Lola and Freckles.

      Shannon passed away on October 23, 2022 at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. Shannon fought a life long battle of disabilities. She is survived by her parents Michael and Caroline; her brothers James and Ryan; Nieces Lillian, Victoria, Lania, Demi and Sirena; Nephew Michael.

Shannon was a good woman, a kind woman, and a practical woman who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being warm and deeply caring. She leaves behind her a treasury of life-long friendships and wonderful memories. Shannon always had much to give and was able to make those connections in her life where her gifts were appreciated. Shannon was a faithful, practical and loving person. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Shannon Patricia Ames.

A Memorial Service for Shannon will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712, followed by a reception from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
