Santiago “Jimmy” Alfredo Tapia, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his home on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by his sister, Dora Alvarez, three children; Terry, Alfred, and Diana (Michael); six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Jimmy was known for his physical and mental strength for life and desire to have his family together. His passions included going for long walks, pampering the yard around his home, and staying active by lifting weights. Jimmy worked in the construction industry for many years and was a member of the Arizona Laborers and Teamsters Local #395. He continued to work for Tucson Unified School District as a school janitor for over 20 years, until his retirement. His favorite job was being a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a loyal Arizona Diamondback fan, but his favorite games to watch were those of his grandchildren.

Jimmy left a touching impact on anyone he encountered. He will always be remembered by his philosophical approach to life and sayings such as “El que no mira en frente, atras se queda.” Those who do not look ahead, will stay behind.
He will be greatly missed, but his loved ones are comforted knowing he will now join the love of his life, Pina in heaven.
