Sandra Lee Alonge (Smith) was born August 29, 1940 in Riverside, California to Ruthe Arlene Smith (Hunt) and Charles Edward Smith Jr. She graduated from Tucson High School and shortly thereafter married the love of her life, Vincent Charles Alonge, Jr. Together, they had five children, nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Sandy passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the age of 82.
Sandy and Vince raised their family in Tucson and she helped Vince with his Dental Lab business. She loved gardening, caring for her many dogs, and most of all, spending time with family. Sandy volunteered helping with baby photos at TMC, taught CCD at St. Pius X and St. Frances de Sales Catholic Churches, and after retiring to the White Mountains, she volunteered with her church’s thrift store there for many years and was the church secretary as well. With her quick wit and easy smile, she made friends easily and was loved by many.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of almost 64 years, Vince, daughter Diane Ward (Kevin), daughter Carrie Ogden (James), daughter Lisa Bodamer (Jim), son Vincent Charles Alonge, III. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruthe and Ed Smith, her brother Chuck Smith, and her infant son, all of whom, she is now reunited with. She is also survived by grandchildren Matt (Lea), Geoff (Fei), Kristen, Brenna (Luis), Colter (David), Ashleigh (Anthony), Grant (Kalyn), Rachel (Andrew), and Victoria, as well as great-grandchildren Cassie, Caelen, Sean, Emmaline, Madeline, Theodor, Emma, Kaiya, Gaven, Lilly and Caleb. She loved getting on her iPad to FaceTime with the great-grandchildren just to sit and watch them play! Sandy is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews whom she kept in touch with and loved dearly.
Though she suffered with several ailments for many years, she never complained at all.
