With great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Rene A. Van Alstine, on June 1st, 2020. Born on June 20, 1943 in Tucson, AZ to the parents of Candelaria Mora and Frank V. Van Alstine, Rene was the third of four children. He grew up in Tucson and Sahuarita Arizona and graduated high school in Hawaii while subsequently serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was last stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. After being honorably discharged, Rene made a career as a successful car salesman for many years. Later in life, Rene shifted his career in transportation, obtained his CDL, and became a truck driver traveling the United States, and even became a CDL instructor at Pima Community College. He was a war hero, a wonderful and selfless hard-working man. Everything he did was to make others happy. He loved and cared deeply for his wife, our mom Stella, his kids, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, cousins, nephews, and friends. We will miss his caring ways, his funny but sometimes inappropriate jokes, his laugh, his hugs, all his stories and his frequently used phrase "Ya know".
Rene is preceded in death by his parents Candelaria Mora and Frank V. Van Alstine, his son’s Frances and Augustine, and his grandson Arturo and grand-daughter Marrissa
Rene is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Ramona Stella. His three brothers Peter (Hope), Rudy, and Frank (Norma). His 6 children Rene Jr. (Myra), Tina (Tony), Michael (Paige), Rene Eugene (Shanna), Annessa (Eddie), and Juan Rene (Kim).
