Raymond "Bud" Miller Anderson

Raymond “Bud” Anderson of Tucson, AZ died on July 2, 2024. Mr Anderson was born at Moline Public Hospital, the son of Raymond E. & Blanche Thankful Anderson on January 10, 1931. He attended Willard School, John Deere Jr. High, and graduated from Moline Public High School.

After HS, Bud worked for Ashland Oil Co. on a barge on the Ohio River. He was in the Army from 1951 to 1953. He married Antonia “Tony” Gustafson on July 5, 1953.

Ray Anderson graduated from Western Illinois in 1959, and while supporting a family, earned a Masters degree from the University of Arizona. He taught various subjects in schools in Winnebago, Il and Tucson, AZ. He worked as a Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, and retired as Assistant Superintendent, from Evanston Township High School in 1986.

Bud and Tony enjoyed sailing, hiking, biking, skiing and camping with their three boys Mark, Guy and Dean. Bud was also an Eagle Scout. He devoted his retirement years to being a Grand Father to 18, and Great Grand Father to 19 more.

Raymond Anderson was preceded in death by his brother Robert V Anderson, his sister Delores Williamson, and his granddaughter Karin Anderson. Bud and Tony spent almost 71 years of marriage together, and they died one week apart. He is survived by his three sons.
