Petrinella Plummer was born on May 9, 1946 in Cleveland, OH to Alice Boatwright King and John L. King. She was the youngest of three siblings. She received her early education in Cleveland, OH graduating from John Hay High School where she was a member of the choir.
Petrinella entered the workforce at The Plain Dealer newspaper, which led her to transfer her job to California working at The Los Angeles Times in 1975. She retired early from The Los Angeles Times in 1995. However she returned to the workforce, ultimately working for the State of California, with the Employment Development Department in Lancaster, CA until her second retirement in 2013.
Petrinella accepted Christ as a young adult in Cleveland, OH. After moving to California, Petrinella joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA where she was a member until her pastor, Pastor Bailey, retired. She earned her A.A. degree from LA Southwest College. She eventually met her future husband, Wilson Plummer Jr. in the early 1980s. They remained a couple through the years that followed and married on March 3, 1995. In all, they shared over 30 years of love and companionship.
Petrinella was very devoted to her family and close friends. Though she appeared quiet and mild-mannered on the surface, she was always ready to spring into action when her loved ones were in need. She held within her a deep well of strength, compassion, and love. She was an avid reader, loved singing and music, and enjoyed traveling with her husband Wilson.
Petrinella leaves to mourn her husband, Wilson Plummer Jr., her daughters April King and Alice King, and her grandson Joshua Reed; in Cleveland, OH her brother John L. King Jr., sister Mildred King, niece Tracie King, and nephew Courtney King; and, in Los Angeles, CA her cousins Ruth Stewart and Giovanni Stewart; and a host of family and friends.
