Scottsdale, Arizona.
Born on April 6th, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late James and Florence (Hollis) Gilliam. Marion graduated from Gladstone High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Marion was a devoted mother, amazing grandmother and loving wife. She married Michael Duckery on
November 10th, 2001, in Tucson, Arizona. They celebrated 21 years of marriage. He survives to cherish
her memory.
Marion was a faithful servant. She lived to serve. She was a Supervisor for Catholic Social Services where she assigned Healthcare Assistants with compatible clients and family requests. She also worked at the Tucson Urban League for several years. It was at Rincon Baptist Church where she and Mike were involved with the homeless and those recovering from substance abuse. She frequently took her grandsons to help prepare and distribute food to homeless individuals. Marion loved serving others. She not only worked hard; she worked from the heart.
Marion is also survived by her sons, Scott (Jill) Nelson and Todd (Suzanne) Nelson; stepchildren, Crystal (Dave) Wilson and Christopher Duckery; her sisters, Edith Potter, Geraldine Purry, Johna (John) Walker and Doreen (Larry) Johnson; and grandsons, Terick Nelson and Jeremiah Nelson.
Marion will also be dearly missed by her best friend of over 40 years, Evangelist Glynis Ficklin, her Goddaughter, Raquel Moriah Neal; step-grandchildren James Duckery and Wyatt Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by parents James and Florence (Hollis) Gilliam, her brothers William Gilliam, Johnny Gilliam and James Gilliam and her sisters Florine (Sigmund) Israel, Betty Gilliam, Lois (Hugh) Parker and Pauline Gilliam.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and
kindness shown to them during this hour of bereavement. May God bless and keep you.
