Lola "Jean" Larson

Jean was born on January 27, 1934, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Marion and Lola (Willenborg) Robey. The daughter of a Pastor, Jean spent her adolescent years attending various schools while her father followed his calling to serve the Lord throughout Iowa and Illinois. While attending Kiron High School, Jean met her love, Herb Larson. Transferring to Garfield-Webb High School for her senior year, in 1951 Jean graduated with honors as Valedictorian and went on to get her Bachelor of Education at Iowa State Teachers College as a member of Delta Sigma Rho.

Following his military service, on June 25th, 1955, Jean became the long-awaited bride of Herb. In 1956 they moved to Tucson where they each achieved their Masters in Education at the University of Arizona, welcoming their daughter Joan along the way. Together they served the City of Tucson through ministry and education, while avidly supporting the U of A Wildcat Athletics.

Better known as Mrs. Larson, Jean was a dedicated teacher and principal, whose love for learning touched the lives of countless students. Her classroom was more than a place of education—it was a sanctuary of kindness and encouragement, where every child was seen and valued.

Jean is survived by her daughter Joan; treasured grandchildren Leslie(John), Lily(Mark), and Luke(Lacy); cherished great-grandchildren Hannah, Orrin, Ellie, Abby, and baby Henry due to arrive in a few short weeks; sister Ruth and sister-in-law Judy; nieces, nephews, as well as extended family and devoted friends that have become family. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, husband Herb, brother Art, brother-in-law Roger, son-in-law Jim, and nephew Marty.

A devout follower of Christ, Jean's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She lived each day with humility and grace, embodying the teachings of her Savior in her words and actions. Her presence in her church community was steadfast and her legacy will be remembered not only in the lives she touched but in the enduring lessons of love, faith, and service she imparted to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but remains forever in our hearts, her life a testament to the power of faith and the beauty of a life well-lived.
