John Phillip Herran born May 20, 1945 died at the age of 65 on December 11, 2010, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends at his bedside. Beloved husband to Melva; father to John (Patricia), Steven (Isela), Stacy (William); brother to Frank (Lydia), Louie "Pachuco", Robert "Chapo" (Sonia), Eloise and Anita (Dave); grandfather to Cassandra, Christina, Juan, Steven Jr., Miguel and Xavier. Preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Amelia Herran; in-laws, Julio and Irene Castillo; brothers, Henry and Gilbert; niece, Veronica Lubinsky and granddog, Isabel. Proudly served in the U.S. Navy from December 62 - July 66, mined copper for Magma from 1968 until retirement from BHP in 2002, coach operator for Sun Tran where he retired on December 8, 2010. So many words to describe him, Strong, Proud, Kind, Giving, Gentle, Mentor and fixer of many things. We will miss you Old Buzzard! Visitation will be held Friday, December 17, 2010, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL, 7 E. University Blvd., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Saturday, December 18, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's.
