Jim Allen Combs II, 67, of Tucson, Arizona and formerly of St. Charles, Illinois, passed away on October 27, 2017. He was born in Elgin, Illinois on March 8, 1950. Jim graduated from St. Charles High School and then joined the United States Marine Corps. He served his country during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. He later married Kristie J. Combs on June 25, 1994. Jim had an extensive career, mainly as a “jack of all trades” having several different careers which included promoting and booking rock N’ roll bands back in Illinois as well as owning and operating his own trucking company in St. Charles. His greatest passion was his love for owning and selling cars, mostly hot rods. He sold more than a thousand throughout his lifetime. Jim always knew how to throw a great party which was always a legendary event. He loved to travel and was also an excellent organizer of several group trips for him and his friends. Jim and Kristie criss-crossed the nation on their many travels by plane, train, automobile and motorhome. He was an animal lover and doted on and cared for his three dogs very much. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, John Robert Combs and Leda Catherine Combs (Sampley) and brothers, Edward “Red” Combs and Charles “Sonny” Combs. He is survived by his wife, Kristie; son, Jim A. Combs III; grandchildren, Jim A. Combs IV, Jackson Combs; siblings, Effie Thompson, Carolin Hood, Jeanie Wood, Sandy Browning and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wounded Warriors Project.
