Eric Nelson passed away in Tucson, Az, after a short illness on May 19. Eric was born across the Mississippi River from New Orleans in Marrero, Louisiana on December 12, 1942 to Isidore and Mabel Nelson. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a retired automobile mechanic. He is survived by his mother Mabel and sister Catherine Savona of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, his wife Vicki Spruell, stepchildren Mandy Spruell Evans and Larry Spruell Jr., step grandchildren Jessica, Kaleb, and Quentin, children by a previous marriage Paul, Parrish, Grace, Hope, and Jude. Eric was preceded in death by his father "Nelson", two sisters Sherry Ann and Debra. Eric was an avid film and digital photographer. He loved Arizona for its beauty, history, and the mountains and he loved Louisiana for it's seafood and his heritage. A favorite song of his was Ol' Man River. Eric and I have both grown up with the Mississippi River close by and some of his ashes will be spread there. At Eric's request, there will be no services. Learn this well... The last ride is never the last ride & the end is not the end. We shall see them again." - Richard Rowland
