Douglas R. Scott passed away on August 25, 2023. He was born on October 21, 1953, in Oak Park, Illinois. After graduating from Culver Military Academy in 1972, he attended Drake University, graduating in 1976. After receiving his MS in 1979 from Arizona State University in 1979, he was employed by IBM in Tucson, Arizona. He married Nancy Kult Scott in 1984. Together, they had 2 children.
They lived in Colorado Springs, CO, Rochester, MN, and Dublin, Ireland, before moving back to Tucson in 2000.
Doug loved his family, friends, his dog, Winston, traveling, Tucson, single malt scotch, refurbishing motorcycles, and antique cars. He would be there in a nano-second if you needed anything that required tinkering. Doug never met a stranger, and loved conversations about books, politics, cars, motorcycles, cigars, and scotch. Doug went about his life as a great father, husband, and friend with little fanfare. He was a steady, loyal rock that you could always count on.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Walter B. Scott, Beverly Scott; brother, Walter G. Scott; and sister Susan Lela Scott. He is survived by his brother William Scott; stepbrother, Kip Lilly (Jeannine Bayard); wife, Nancy Scott; and children Carolyn Scott and Ryan Scott.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug’s name to the Adult Loss of Hearing Association. http://www.alohaaz.org/
