He is survived by his wife, Evalala (Babe), son, Craig Nichols of Cheyenne, Wyoming, former wife Jean Nichols, Stepson Lloyd Shinn (wife Lori), grandchildren, Lloyd James Shinn III, Lindsey Arnold (husband Sam Arnold) and great-granddaughter Harper, Leslie Babers (husband Bobby Babers) all of Tucson, stepson Michael Shinn (wife Rhonda) and granddaughter Brianna Chavez (husband Johnny Chavez) of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Don served honorably with the United States Marine Corps and was a retired self-employed real-estate appraiser with a Member, Appraisal Institute (MAI) designation in both Wyoming and Arizona. He was also a long time member of the National Rifle Association.
Don loved hunting and spending time with his family. He began hunting as a small boy in Ohio and loved sharing his life experiences. He later moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming for many years before moving to Arizona where he finished out his appraising career and retired. Spending time with his family, be it hunting or gatherings, was important and meaningful to Don.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Kay, Lucille, Martha, Mabel, Margaret, and Lorena and brothers, Frank and Sam Jr.
