Dolores "Dee" Theresa Turner was born on July 16, 1929, the daughter of Adam and Susan Gauronski, in Scranton, PA. She passed away on March 30 at Grandma's Angel Assisted Living facility, in Tucson. The last of eleven children, she was fortunate to spend extended quality time with her loving parents including hours hearing and praying the rosary each day at her mother's feet. A deep Catholic faith was shared with her own family after marrying her loving husband Howard "Whitey" Turner in 1948.
Dolores was a very active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church early on after they moved from Waterbury, CT to Tucson in 1957. A member of the Altar and Rosary Society, she participated in honoring the Blessed Mother through prayer and taking care of the altar linens, washing, ironing, folding, and delivering them back to the church each month. She was also a member of one of the church choirs for many years. She volunteered her time with the local Rosary Makers group and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas right up to her passing. She moved from her long held home of 59 years into Fellowship Square retirement community where she made many loving and cherished friendships.
A deeply spiritual person, her hallmarks were Christian compassion and love for all those she knew. She always listened to the stories of everyone she met making them feel loved and appreciated. She really enjoyed playing bingo with her friends at Fellowship Square. She also greatly enjoyed sharing dinners at Fellowship Square dining hall with her son, Kevin and close friend Rick. After dinner she always insisted Kevin play some of the beautiful old standards on the grand piano. Many residents enjoyed listening to the music, making her a very proud mama.
Saddled with two debilitating blood cancers, major chemotherapy infusions, blood transfusions, and chronic back pain from severe scoliosis, she always maintained a compassionate, caring, and loving concern for everyone she met. Her unconditional love will always be remembered as her legacy.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2009, by her son Bruce in 2011, and daughter Dianne DuBach in 2019. Dolores is survived by her daughter Virginia Douglas (Leo), son Kevin, daughter-in-law Mary Jane Turner, and son-in-law Mark Dubach plus 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
