Bert married “Billy” Thompson on February 18, 1961 in Douglas, Arizona where they began their life together. Over the years they lived in Douglas, Sierra Vista, Parker Canyon Lake, and finally settled in Tucson. Bert was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on March 5, 1966 shortly after moving to Tucson. Bill and Bert were sealed for time and all eternity on May 24, 1969 in the Mesa Arizona Temple.
Along with working with Bill at Parker Canyon Lake Store and several other business ventures, Bert worked at Globe Shopping City, Southern Pacific Railroad Credit Union, and finally Tucson Unified School District #1. Bert made many friends along the way during her working years. She also “adopted” many children over the years doing childcare in her home.
Bert was very involved in serving at church. She was a dedicated Visiting Teacher and worked in many different organizations in her Wards throughout the years, developing many lasting friendships.
Some of her favorite activities and new found talents included dancing with Bill, embroidery, crocheting, drawing, sketching, and stippling. Bert enjoyed walking with friends, travelling to visit family, and going for weekend get-aways to their timeshare property in the White Mountains. “Hens club” luncheons were always an important part of her social calendar, and the club membership was always changing.
Her Life Celebration Memorial will be:
