Barbara Mae Kausen

Barbara Mae Kausen, age 85, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Born on May 23, 1939 in Eureka CA, Barbara led a life marked by her intelligence, kindness, and gentle spirit, complemented by a great sense of humor and a profound love for people and the planet. Barbara graduated from Ferndale High School in her hometown. She continued her studies at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, going on to graduate cum laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Barbara was 60 years old when she accomplished this feat! Her professional life was dedicated to working as a legal word processor for various law firms through a temporary hiring agency, demonstrating her sharp intellect and meticulous nature. A devout member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Barbara's father was an integral part of her life. Her hobbies, which included gardening, cooking, sewing, and writing cookbooks, showcased her creativity and passion for sharing with others.

She is survived by a loving family: her sister, Carol Sutterlund; brother Rod Kausen (J'Anne); sister Dawn Lianna; daughters Gail Jackson-McCray (James) and Marianne Smith of California; twin granddaughter, Christy Nelson of Boise, Idaho; granddaughter Angelique Boccara of San Francisco, CA; grandsons, Toriano Gordon (Maya) of California, and Marco Boccara of Nevada; seven great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives, and her cherished, chosen family of friends and neighbors! Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Evelyn Kausen; brother, Brad Kausen; daughter, Diana Marie Nelson; and twin granddaughter, Holly Nelson.

A graveside memorial service for Barbara will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. Following the graveside service will be a reception from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
