She considered Fountainview her home, and felt loved and cared for during her three-year stay there. We believe she is now fully healed and rejoicing with God in heaven.
Sandra is survived by her three daughters, Courtney Robinson of Atlanta, Elise Kitchens of Houston, Texas and Sara Lackey of Dallas, Texas. Also her son-in-law, Steve Robinson, and granddaughters, Brooke Robinson of Atlanta and Anna Grace Robinson of Charlotte, North Carolina. And finally, her beloved sister, Shari Townley of Fresno, California, and her niece and nephews.
Sandra was born Sandra Sue Frerichs in Denver, Colorado in 1939, and grew up mostly in Fresno, California. She couldn’t wait to see the world, and so after a year of college took a job as a stewardess for United Airlines. One day she landed in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where she met Bob Lackey. They were married soon after, and Sandra’s travel bug was fulfilled as Bob’s work took the family around the country and overseas.
In 1992, about ten years after her divorce, Sandra had a major stroke which left her disabled and unable to communicate clearly. Still, she got back on her feet – literally – and was able to live independently for many years. Sandra had a generous spirit and enjoyed her family on the west coast and east coast and in between.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sandra on Monday, December 26th at 2:00 with a reception to follow at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, Georgia, 30084.
All are welcome to attend as we honor Sandra and bear witness to her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the foundation for the Fountainview Center: Fourth Street Foundation, 267 West Wieuca Road, Suite 201, Atlanta, Georgia, 30342.
