Sandra Gregory Campbell

Sandra (Sandi) Gregory Campbell, age 77, of Doraville, GA passed away on February 15, 2024. She was preceded in death by her son, Scott G. Campbell; sister, Peggy E. Gregory and husband, Donald R. Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Brown Campbell (Jeff Kenney); niece, Liliana Gregory (Neal Schneier); great-niece, Aria Gregory-Schneier; cousins, Melanie George and Robin Macik; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Campbell; step-sons, Andy Williams and Don Williams; brothers-in-law, Bill Hare, Craig Campbell and Reid Campbell; sister-in-law Cheryl Campbell and countless friends from the Tucker High School Class of 1963, the Cobb County Breakfast Club, her Tucker Workout Group and her Travel crew.

Sandi was born in Chicago, IL to Warren and Wanda (Karas) Gregory. She spent her primary years in Chicago and River Edge, NJ before moving to Tucker, GA in 1960. It didn’t take long for Sandi to make friends at her new school, Tucker High School (THS). During her senior year she was voted “most wittiest” and Homecoming Queen while also modeling for the local Belk’s department store. After graduating from THS in 1963, Sandi attended Georgia State College for Business Administration and interned as a data entry clerk for IBM before moving to Dallas, TX with her family. In 1965 she returned to Atlanta, married her high school sweetheart, and started a family in Doraville, GA. Sandi ultimately found her niche in the Commercial Insurance Audit sector starting out as a file clerk and transcriber, finally retiring as an inspections expert, assigned to the southeast region. When Sandi wasn’t working hard to support her family, you could find her listening and dancing around the house to 70s music with her kids or playing cards with family and friends. Sandi also enjoyed travelling. Summer vacations with her kids included Calloway Gardens and Tybee Island, along with trips to Chicago to visit with family, tour Frank Lloyd Wright homes and visit the Chicago Field Museum. Sandi loved Museums and maintained a connection with the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, GA throughout her life.

During her retirement years you could find her co-raising her niece, Liliana, after the unexpected passing of her sister, Peggy. This was a special bond that stood the test of time and was expected to continue with the birth of her first great-niece, Aria. When not with Liliana, Sandi traveled internationally to places like Rome, Budapest, Vienna, and toured the Canadian Rockies with her travel crew. If all of that wasn’t enough, Sandi also managed to find time for co-organizing her Class of ‘63 reunions and monthly parties, working local and national elections, volunteering at the Tucker Theatre, exercising with her Tucker Workout Group and cheering on her Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Braves, and, sometimes, the Falcons! Lastly, she had a special place in her heart for her Cobb County Breakfast Club, which included weekly breakfast meetups and numerous “porch” parties.

When asked what gives her peace of mind, Sandi stated “Peace of mind is knowing that my loved ones are safe, healthy and happy.”
