Born on January 7, 1916, in Jacksonville, Florida to Dr. Harper Roy and Eunice Bothwell, Evelyn was one of six children. The family moved to Miami, Florida where she graduated from Miami High School and later assisted her father with his dental practice.
Evelyn was a member of Tucker Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving in many areas. She was a member of the Miami Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and numerous local civic and religious organizations. She was a breast cancer survivor.
Evelyn was married to Richard Boone Leonard for 34 years and later to Paul Burns. Her only child, Jeneal Leonard Benton, preceded her in death. Survivors include her son in law, Gene Ray Benton; brother David Sutton Bothwell (Hope); grandchildren, Christina Benton Kramer (Chris); Boone Leonard Benton (Coralie); great-grandchildren, Taylor Rose Benton, Kendall Jeneal Kramer, Matthew Boone Benton and Abigail Grace Benton; nieces, Linda King McWilliams (Morse) and Rebecca Bothwell Pluta (Butch); along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
The visitation will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, Georgia on March 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with graveside services following at 11:30 a.m. at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tucker First Baptist Church, 5073 LaVista Road, Tucker, Georgia 30084.
