Cay is survived by husband Richard Sherman brothers Craig Jacobson and Robert Jacobson, their spouses, and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father C. Milton Jacobson and her mother Adeline Jacobson (nee Mattice). of Fayetteville, New York.
Cay was born on November 23, 1955 in Syracuse New York.
She graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in Fayetteville New York. She attended SUNY Fredonia and SUNY Binghamton.
Cay worked in the Syracuse Inter-religious council refugee resettlement agency, finding church and family sponsors in areas ranging from Syracuse, Binghamton, and Albany NY. She found accommodations and work for refugees from all over the world and helped them integrate into their communities. She taught some citizen classes. Among other duties, she met families at the airport when they arrived in Syracuse and, with groups of volunteers, brought them to their new homes. She especially loved her time doing that work and developed friendships with many of the sponsored refugees.
Cay relocated to Atlanta when her husband, Richard, accepted a position in the area.
In Atlanta, Cay worked for Spectrum Productions and worked as a scheduling coordinator for Crossroads Hospice.
Cay was an avid French Horn player and loved music especially jazz and classical. One of her favorite classical performers was the virtuoso French Horn player Dennis Brain.
In high school, Cay was in orchestra, in concert band, and enjoyed working in stage production crew for school musicals and plays.
In Syracuse, Cay volunteered for the Onondaga Civic Symphony Orchestra and, in Atlanta, she volunteered for the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra.
Cay will always be remembered as an intelligent, thoughtful, caring, and warm human being. All whose lives she has touched will remember her with fondness and admiration.

A family/friend gathering for Cay will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084.
