James David Pascoe

James D. Pascoe (79) passed away on February 7, 2019 at French Manor Assisted Living. Jim was born on February 3, 1940 in Detroit Michigan. His parents were James and Rose (Gunning) Pascoe. Jim was the oldest of six children in the Pascoe family: Howard (Nancy), Bill (deceased)(Nancy), Larry (Jackie), Rose (Saxton), and Nancy. He valued the chance to go to the Detroit area and visit them in their homes. Many times his brothers or sisters would call him for advice regarding taxes and other financial matters. His experience in finance in several companies prepared him for being the family “financial” man.

Jim was married to Joan Pascoe who died in 2003. Jim and Joan had four children: Keith Pascoe of St. Claire Shores, Ken (Natalie) Pascoe of Albuquerque, NM, Kathy (Bill) Cole of Eastpointe; and Karen Pascoe of New York City. His four grandchildren were special in Jim’s eyes: Kris Paciorek, Andrew Pascoe, Lauren Pascoe, and Kyle Cole. He had one step-daughter, Joy (Andrew) Dillon of Huntersville, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joan Pascoe (wife), William Pascoe (Brother), and Alex Pascoe (grandson).

He met and married Vera J. (Pike) Stanner on December 10, 2005. They enjoyed 13 years of happiness as seniors together. Jim was involved in many organizations serving on the Board of Area Agency on Aging, Parkinson’s Board, Lions Club of Bellaire, Lions Club of Traverse City, Community Corrections Advisory Board, on a committee with his cousin Ray Mills who tried to lead Bellaire to a city status, Commission on Aging Board, was involved in the politics of Blair Township, and County Planning Commission. Jim was a member of Bayview Wesleyan Church.

A memorial service will be held at Bayview Wesleyan Church, 720 Wayne Street, Traverse City on Saturday, February 16 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steven Packer, officiating.
