Wayne spent his childhood on Ashland Ave, and at about 10 years of age began working as a delivery boy for Wood's Drug Store, where he remained a trusted employee all through high school.
In 1973 Wayne graduated from the police college and began his 28 year career as a constable for the Toronto Police Service, stationed at 55 Division. When he retired (from the police), he worked security part time at Pinewood Film Studios.
Wayne could usually be found most nights watching the Raptors, Leafs and Blue Jays on TV after a day spent shooting the breeze with friends over a pint or two. As a younger man, he loved going to the racetrack, but in recent years, a $5 bet with friends on the Super Bowl or World Series was more his speed.
Wayne was predeceased by his loving parents Bev and Thelma. He is survived by his children, Jeff and Nicole (Jordan), sister, Blanche, and niece, Sarah. Memories of Wayne will be cherished by family and friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Giffen-Mack and Trull Funeral Home on Wednesday August 2, 2023 at 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. A private interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sunnybrook Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion to ensure Wayne was comfortable during his last days.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.giffenmackdanforth.com for the Wright family.
