Virginia Diane Williams

Virginia grew up in the East end of Toronto and attended Secord Public School, Oak Park Junior High, and Eastern Commerce High school. Ginny was always involved in lots of activities. She was in the choir Hope United Church, a member of the local Brownies group, Girl Guides and, CGIT. Virginia enjoyed dancing; she took tap and ballet classes. She was always on the swim and volleyball teams in school and in the winter, a joy for her was outdoor skating in both Dentonia Park and Glen Manor Park in the Beaches area. Ginny loved music, one of her favourite groups was the Beatles, and the song “Michelle” had a special place in her heart. Virginia liked the old TV shows from the 50’s and 60’s especially I Love Lucy, Danny Thomas, Dick Van Dyke, Little House on the Prairie, and the Lawrence Welk Show.

A special thanks to Mark, he was a wonderful friend to my sister for many years. Mark would rent a car and off they’d go sometimes in the various Toronto neighborhoods to their favourite restaurants or head down to the beaches boardwalk and spend some time by the water. On special occasions they would go away for a few days to Ottawa and visit with friends in Mark’s hometown or off to Niagara-on-the-Lake with a special stop in Niagara Falls at the Santa Store. They always had a great time!

Virginia spent the final 7 or 8 years of her life at the Rekai Centre. The staff there were like family to her. Paulina and the other angels on the fourth floor dealt day in and day out with all the healthcare challenges and continually offered emotional support to the residents . Through all her health problems and disappointments, Virginia maintained an open heart and a kind and caring nature.

A service will take place for Virginia at The Rekai Centre (345 Sherbourne St) on Friday June 14 at 2:00 pm in the chapel.
