Betty lived a full and active life and her kind intelligent warmth shined vibrantly right until she laid down to rest at home with family one last time. Betty will be reunited with beloved husband of 48 yrs, Don (d.2018). She is survived by her 3 children, Patrick (Maricon), Ann-Marie, and Denise (Ben de Bray).
Betty was never going to let cancer deny her seeing her four grandchildren grow into the wonderful young people they are today. The legacy of Betty’s great love and ambition lives on through Lauren and Jake Power, and Aidan and Abigail de Bray. Thanks to the efforts of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and specialist Dr. Christine Brezden, Betty was a survivor for over 20-years and was a great champion in advancing the science for cures.
Betty grew up in the West end of Toronto developing cherished friendships with Cam and June as well as many others through her time at Humberside Collegiate, St. Michael’s Hospital Nursing School, and on the courts in Muskoka, Maui, and BGCC. Betty was a lifelong Academic, teaching nursing at St. Michael's, achieving a Ph.D. in Higher Education at U of T and implementing PBL curriculum at Ontario Veterinary College. Betty was a natural-born caregiver and that rare individual who would drop everything to help. Her pace was always quick. We only wish we had more time to have said good-bye.
The visitation will be held 4-8pm Thursday March 30, 2023 at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge St. Funeral Service will be held 10 am Friday March 31, 2023 at St. Gabriel Passionist Parish, 670 Sheppard Ave East North York.
