Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of Chong Chuang Ling and Phaik Har Lim. Her early years were spent in St. Catharines before the family moved to Sudbury. Tan-yar graduated from Lockerby Composite School in Sudbury and went on to earn a degree in Bio-Pharmacology from McMaster University.
Following her graduation, Tan-yar demonstrated her intelligence and meticulous planning in various Clinical Research & Drug Safety positions at Lifestyle Metabolism Center, Bayer Inc, Hospital for Sick Children, and finally, Janssen Inc. Her professionalism and dedication were evident as she quickly ascended to the position of Senior Regional Site Manager.
Her intelligence was matched only by her ability to connect with others. Colleagues and friends alike were drawn to her warmth and sincerity. Tan-yar fostered meaningful relationships, not only in her personal life but also within the professional realm. Her colleagues remember her as not just a competent professional but as a friend who made the workplace a more enjoyable and collaborative space.
Beyond her impressive career, Tan-yar's intelligence and passion shone through in every aspect of her life. An adventurous traveler with a keen sense of wanderlust, she approached each journey with thoughtful consideration and curiosity. A true food enthusiast, her culinary pursuits were marked by a methodical approach and a discerning palate. Tan-yar was a devoted lover of the arts. Her home bore witness to her passion, adorned with paintings, drawings, and ceramics. In recent years, she embraced her artistic side, becoming the artist she always harboured within.
Tan-yar leaves behind a profound void, deeply felt by her husband, Claudio Sallese, her daughter, Sasha Ling Sallese, and their family dog, Cedar. She will be dearly missed by her sister, EeVon Ling, brother-in-law Corey Wiskin, and nieces Keira and Olivia Ling Wiskin along with the extended Ling and Lim families. Her in-laws, Guido and Palmina Sallese, Anita and Tony Lotito, Nora and Luciano Merocchi (Mark, Taylor, Marla & Paul) share in the grief.
Throughout her life, Tan-yar formed enduring connections with friends and family. We all feel fortunate to have shared adventures and meaningful experiences with her. As we say good-bye, we will hold these cherished memories close to our hearts.
