Beloved wife of the late John Chung. Susan will be forever loved and missed by her daughter Millicent (Sean Suttles).
Loving sister of Pik Sheung “Bessy” (the late Danny Wong), the late Nay Tai (Ho Sin Yu Seto) and the late Sam (Bik Yuk Seto). Cherished sister-in-law to Yip Ming (the late Wai Keung Yeung). Dearly loved aunt to Felix, Philip, Chiman, Florence, Antony, Hingman, Sing-Lee, KeeYat, Wai Ming, Eva, Mona, Dona, So Wah, Hing, Marlene, Bob, Fred, Annie and the late Soo Seto, Wai Yin Seto and Kenny Wong.
Susan was born in Kaiping, China and was the youngest of five children. After immigrating to Canada, my mother married my father John and worked hard to build a future in Canada. Susan worked for an insurance company for over twenty years before retiring after the untimely passing of John in 1991. In her retirement years, my mom continued her passion for education and new experiences. She was a shining example for me that age should not limit or define what you can do. She showed me what could be accomplished if you had a strong ‘desire’. A lifelong learner, my mother enrolled in a computer course and learned to “Google” her way around the internet to find recipes, information and her favourite Youtube shows. She was a good cook, but she definitely became a better cook in her retirement years!
My mother was a very shy person especially with strangers. Over time as she got to know them better, they became a part of her ‘circle of friends’. Mom enjoyed laughing and ‘loudly’ catching up with her family and friends at gatherings. She treasured day-to-day interactions and special celebrations equally – wisely acknowledging that all relationships are priceless.
She will also be missed by her grand fur-babies. Although Susan initially protested their adoption, she grew to love them. As like any indulgent grandmother, she played with them and inappropriately bent the rules by smuggling them treats.
We are missing Susan dearly, but take comfort knowing she is with my father and other family members … all enjoying good meals and good conversations again! Flower tributes or a donation to a charity of your choice in my mother’s name, Susan Chung, are both welcome.
To say good-bye and pay your respects, family and friends may gather at Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Road, Scarborough, ON M1K 2B5 (south of Eglinton Ave. E.) on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 10:00 am. A funeral service will follow in the Chapel of the Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Susan will be laid to rest at Pine Hills Cemetery.
At the family's request, guests are requested to wear a mask.
