Shirley Anne Gray

Shirley loved being active in the community, currently being a beloved member of the Toronto International Celebration Church community, where she often volunteered as a greeter with a smile that welcomed everyone as they came in. In her earlier days, she was an avid bowler and supported the league by assuming roles such as President, Secretary, Treasurer and others as needed. She was an advocate for people with disabilities including her daughter Robyn. To support this, she even went so far as to pressure the government to open a group home for her and others with similar disabilities. There was no stopping her.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would often be found watching them play whatever sport they were playing or watching them play in her pool. She especially loved hockey and could be found cheering on the Leafs, waiting for her grandson to grow up and help them bring home the Stanley Cup. She liked to pass the time with her two beloved dogs, Maggie and Molly, oftentimes she would cuddle with them while reading a good book.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Cherie, Son-in-law Mark, her grandchildren Ashley (Ross), Bradley (Allan) and Marcy and her great grandchildren John-Paul, Alex, Madison, Savannah, and Austin. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Earl and beloved daughter Robyn.

Visitation will be held at Giffen Mack Funeral Home 2570 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON M4C 1L3 Tuesday November 1, 2022, from 10am to 12pm, followed by service in the chapel. Internment to be held following the service at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, 7770 Steeles Avenue East, Markham, Ontario.

Memorial donations, in leu of flowers, may be made to a local food bank.
