Sr. Rose (Juanita Mary Theresa) Caneuill, IBVM

Died peacefully at Presentation Manor, on July 15, 2023. Sister Rose was in her 94th year of life and her 73rd year as a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Loretto Sisters). Predeceased by her parents George Caneuill and Rose Anne Flynn. Survived by her sister Diane Caneuill and members of the Community. From 1952 until 1980 Sister Rose ministered as a teacher in elementary and high schools in Toronto, Fort Erie, Hamilton, Niagara Falls and Guelph. In Guelph she also served on the St. Joseph’s Parish Council for nine years, was a member of the Liturgy Committee, and Cursillo Movement, promoted Adult Education and took courses at Wilfrid Laurier University and the Toronto School of Theology. From 1982 Sister Rose assisted as secretary at Loretto College School, Brunswick Avenue until a fire in December 1999 necessitated a move to Loretto Abbey. For many years Sister Rose was an invaluable volunteer in the Loretto Abbey High School Guidance Department. She was an active supporter of Street Haven, The Humane Society, charities for Women and Children, and the Terry Fox Foundation. Visitation at 10:00 AM on Wednesday July 26, 2023 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Presentation Manor Chapel, 61 Fairfax Cres, Scarborough. Interment at Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery.
