Rick is survived by his wife of 50 blessed years, Kathleen (née Rawson), his children Kevin, Stephen, Marie and John, and his grandchildren Sydney, Erin, Declan and Maeve. He will be missed by his siblings Lloyd, Paul, Suzanne, Arthur, Michael and Laura, and his many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Rick was predeceased by his parents Shirley and Arthur, and his siblings Barbara, Beverley and Shirley.
One could say that Rick was born with diesel in his blood, and he enjoyed a long career as a parts specialist with Mack Trucks Canada and several GM dealerships in the Toronto area. When he wasn’t working behind the parts counter, you could find him sharing joy and laughter with his family or tinkering under the hood of one of the family’s collection of Mack Trucks.
Rick also devoted a great deal of his time in service to his community as a leader with the 146th Scouts and a member of the Knights of Columbus Beaches Council, and was always ready to volunteer at church and other local events.
The family invites you to celebrate Richard’s life with them at a visitation on Friday, November 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Giffen-Mack and Trull Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held for him on Saturday, November 23 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church (794 Kingston Road), with a reception to follow in the church basement.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Toronto.
