I send my condolences to Rebekah's  entire family and want to give thanks for her life.  She was a very committed friend of my daughter and I knew her mainly through that connection.  Rebekah was a deeply caring person, and in spite of  her own health challenges, found many ways to send love in very concrete ways to those around her.
May you know you are surrounded by the love of others who knew and loved your very special Rebekah.  Count us among those who grieve her loss with you. Peace be with you all.

Rebekah, you were an instant friend. A rock during some of the darkest days of my life. A lifeline, a source of inspiration, and the best kind of listener when I felt weak and scared. My biggest cheerleader. And to read that you were this for so many of us in this community doesn't surprise me.
You were one in a million, Rebekah, and I don't want to say goodbye.
We were going to hug in person one day soon, Peloton together, and share DIEP scars. The color yellow will forever remind me of you, and how beautifully you wore it on your toughest days. I'm just so sad. My heart breaks for Mark, and all of your family and friends - and to them I say thank you for sharing Rebekah with those of us here in the breast cancer community. All of our lives were made better by having her by our side. Love you sweet friend, always and forever.

I miss you Rebekah.  I’m  grateful we became good friends through our work. Our texts and calls over the past two years were filled with her laughter, joy and optimism.  You are like a sunflower.

I only had the chance to meet Rebekah in person once. She and my sister Melanie had bonded over shared health struggles and a love of Muskoka. Melanie had offered to help out with Rebekah's cottage after her first surgery, understanding first hand the challenges with that as she had undergone a double lung transplant in February 2017. Rebekah and she quickly became friends, and I was lucky enough to meet Rebekah in August of 2021 as she came to see Mel's garden. I immediately felt comfortable with Rebekah as she told me of her work and her pets, and she kindly brought some vegan baked treats for Melanie as well.  Rebekah talked about her cancer frankly and was facing her next challenges with courage. We all spent some time  wandering in the garden and appreciating the beauty of Muskoka. Sadly my sister died last April of a rejection of her transplant, and Rebekah stepped up immediately to offer her love and support. She graciously provided the food at Melanie's Celebration of Life last summer, even though she was unable to attend in person herself.  Since then we kept in touch mainly through e-mail and text messages. It was clear she faced an uphill climb, but she took it on with clarity and hope. I only wish I had had more time to know her better. She was very loved and treasured by many. I know that if there is an afterlife, Melanie and Rebekah will enjoy meeting each other once more. Passing along my love and appreciation to Rebekah's family and friends. 

My condolences to Mark and the Uusitalo family. When I first met Rebekah it was clear she was a force of nature - smart, empathetic, hardworking and an incredible leader.  What I remember most is her radiant smile, her compassion & empathy for people in need & her never ending energy.  

Rebekah left an incredible legacy and I am very fortunate to have known her. 

It was my honour to know Rebekah as part of her post surgical recovery team.  In between treatment sessions, we discussed many important topics such as eyelash extensions and whether or not La Mer face cream was worth the price :-) I will miss her.   She was such a beautiful person and so very very brave.  My deepest condolences to Mark as well as her friends and family.  Your are all in my thoughts. 

A sunny day will forever remind me of you Rebekah. Thank you for authoring the blueprint of how to LIVE fully.

Me deepest condolences to Mark and the Uusitalo family. I knew Rebekah for a very short time at Workday, and I'll never forget her. Her million watt smile could light up a room and she always brought a wave of positive energy everywhere she went. She left an amazing legacy in this world, her strength, love and courage won't be forgotten. XOXO


Rebekah and I bonded over charcuterie boards, shopping, home decor, and of course reality TV.  When we last saw each other she told us about always having a list of 5 things to look forward to. I have kept this list going since then and just renamed it the Rebekah List. 

She was such a positive person despite all she was dealing with, often laughing so hard she would say her cheeks were hurting.  We send our love and condolences to you Mark, as you grieve the loss of this beautiful woman.

Rebekah and Mark are the reason I have any real direction in my career and life.

Over the years Rebekah became a very strong mentor of mine. Before I made any moves career wise (and sometimes life wise) I would follow up with her and Mark first to get their input.

She was kind, smart and a very good friend.

I will miss her

Rebekah, you are truly one of a kind and my heart hurts thinking your bright and contagious smile is gone from this earth oh to soon. They say only the good die young and this couldn't more true in this situation. I loved chatting with you and running into you in the east end. From the minute we met at CrossFit you were one of my fav people I have ever met. Thanks for being a light in my life and always supporting me. I have thought about you so much this week and my  condolences go out to marc and the rest of your family. The world was lucky to have you and I'm just so glad I knew you. I truly am going to buy a yellow sweater and wear it and think of you and the brightness you brought to this world! So much love friend ❣️

My condolences to the family. Rebekah's smile was infectious. She lit up the office at Workday and was always eager to talk and share a story. She will be greatly missed. 

My sincere condolences Mark and family, I am so very sorry for your loss.

There is an unsaid connection with fellow cancer warriors, Rebekah and I bonded instantly. She always had a few minutes to chat, we even laughed about the ninja turtles we thought we saw that night when we were roommates at Mount Sinai. We exchanged phone numbers and have kept in touch ever since. I’m so glad we met this fall and gave each other the biggest hug, the girls at the nursery happily took this photo when we told them how we knew each other. I hope she knew how much I cherished our friendship, how much I loved her sweet voice and pretty eyes, they were so beautiful when she smiled. Heaven has a new angel 😇, now Rebekah can soar like an eagle.

There was never a time I can remember when you didn’t wear a  smile.  It was your signature accessory.  There was never a time you weren’t ready and willing to help. Your kindness and positivity were palpable.  The good ones they say are taken first to heaven where I know your arrival is being celebrated.  And though I won’t get to say another hello or introduce you to my girls, I know you are smiling down on us all with that signature smile I will remember always. 


So wonderful to witness the joy and sense of humour the two of you had with each other.

I will remember you as always being a kind, sensitive, and  loving soul. It is so hard to believe that  someone with so much joy for life is gone.  Gone but never forgotten. Rebekah you are missed. If the laws of physics are true, then I envision you in some heavenly place doing hand stand pushups. You inspired me in more ways than you know.

We met Rebekah and Mark when we became cottage neighbours at Brandy Lake.  Rebekah was one of the most beautiful humans we've ever known - full of light, joy. Funny. Generous. She helped us land our hypoallergenic cat - buddies with Kissa. We still can't believe she isn't here yet  also so happy we got a chance to know her well enough to be devastated by the loss of her.  Thinking of everyone who loved her, and especially you Mark. You have been a heroic supporter of her and both of you showed everyone how it's done. We will honour and miss her forever. Xo
