 my name is ken gangasingh , norm was my friend, he coached me to be the best pitcher i could be, we won the ontario bantom chambionship , simity was his friend, my name is on a thophy,as mvp, i did not have a father, he became my friend and father,,,,i will always remember him

 I remember being around 7or 8 years old watching baseball at Greenwood park .Norm walking up to me and saying! Wanna play ball kid..And I sure did..ran and got my mom .She spoke with Norm and the rest was history..played for 6 years there and was on the all star team that went to the C.N.E Exibition Stadium ..God bless a man like him who helped so many kids in his life through sport ..RIP  NORM..

There is so much more I wish we could have chatted about on those long drives out of town, I just found out that you passed away.

I really didn't pay much attention to the man watching me and my pals hitting a ball wrapped in electrician tape with a bat held together with some nails.  Finally he and his dog came over and he asked if I would like to play some ball in a league he ran......Greenwood Little League.  I was 9 years old and said "sure".  Although I'd never heard of this league.  He told me to come down the next night and he'd get me on a team.  So I did.  I belted 2 homeruns my first game and he told me I was too good for the league and that he wanted me to play for his Pape Rec team.  So I said sure.  I started in the outfield until Norm sat beside me one day and said you are a born leader and should be a catcher.  He asked if I'd like to try it.  Again I said "sure".  I just loved to play ball and somehow I knew this guy was someone I should listen to.  I didn't have much of a home life, and Norm showed a lot of interest in me, which I thrived on.  He gave me my first pair of spikes, which were used, but I cherished them.  He also took me to the sporting goods store and told me to pick out a bat I liked.  I thought it was for the team, but after we left the store he told me it was mine.  I can't even begin to tell you how I felt.  He taught me how to catch and basically how to become the best ballplayer possible.  He gave me the nickname Eggy after a tournament in Listowel (whole other story).  To make a long story short he instilled in me a love for the game I still have today, and quite honestly my whole life changed the day I met Norm and am so grateful.  I'm 64 now and only retired from competitive men's fastball last year.  I've won numerous city,  and provincial championships.  An Eastern Canadian and Canadian Championship, and won a world championship in South Bend, Indiana in 2015.  In 2015 I was honoured to be inducted into the Ontario Masters Fastball Hall of Fame.  Norm Bryan played a huge role in all of this, and I still preach many of Norm's teachings.

On behalf of the members of the CNE Baseball Committee we extend our condolences to the Bryan family.  Norm was a fixture in Toronto Playground Baseball, entering his teams in our annual Peewee Tournament.  His Pape Avenue Playground team won the CNE Championships in 1958 and 1960.

For 10 years Toronto Greenwood Baseball league and Norm Bryan was our spring and summer. Many days were spent in Greenwood park either watching our son, Marcel play baseball, coaching, scorekeeping, or helping Norm run the league. It is a huge chunk of our memories and we thank Norm for his kindness, generousity and love of the game that has been passed on to not only our son, but many other boys and girls as well. Rest in peace Norm, your work here on earth is done and your legend will live on. Our condolences to the family.

My first relations with Norm was on a professional basis.  We were quick to become freinds.  This continued after our professional relationship had ended.  Norm, I miss your phone calls.   I am sure you are looking down at me and thinking Ummmmm!!

You have helped so many in your time here among Your All-Stars.  Thank for checking up on me when Fred was hunting or away from home it was nice to know someone was there. I will miss you, and you will always be in our hearts and thoughts.

After baseball Norm and I kept in touch, we drove to Ajax for fish and chips or chinese food once a week. Baseball and hockey was always the topic of conversation. He loved those Peterbourough Petes.  I will miss our conversations.  I'll see you on that fields of dreams my baseball chum.

Norm was a great friend and someone who was always there for advise and guidance.  Norm dedicated his life to helping inner city youth and has touch so many lives through the years.  Norm you will never be forgotten.

I wish I had known Norm in his heyday.  But I'm glad I got to meet him at 88!  Everyday, Norm challenged me and his caregivers to do better.  I think---I hope that we added value and comfort to his life.  We came to respect his integrity, his courage and his honesty.  Norm was a good man and a true gentlemen.  Ultimately, his legacy will be the positive influence he had on some many young people, and the difference he made to their lives.
My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and loyal friends.

I really don't know where to begin. It has been a great experience having your friendship. The laughs, arguments, tales of  your life happiness and sorrows that you shared with me almost daily. You touched a lot of other peoples hearts with your kindness and caring. I will miss you as will many others that were part of it.

My first memory of Norm from nearly 60 years ago was meeting the slim coach of Sheltons Grocers THL Midget team on which a close friend of mine played. Not long after that we both coached baseball for Pape Playground and I helped out a bit when he started up Norm's Little League which became Toronto Greenwood Baseball. He always said that Leaside stole me from him after he trained me. It was a relationship that I have valued enormously. Norm's contribution to the lives of so many young people in east end Toronto may well be unparalleled. God bless his memory.

My memories of Norm are not only the ones of times scouting for the Petes, and meetings and drafts and training camps; but the way he made us laugh by purposely mispronouncing a players name; the way he enabled the people who worked for him, showing us confidence, lending his voice where needed and challenging us at other times.  He showed this in all aspects of his life, from the confidence those kids felt when they heard their name called at the draft, to the tireless hours of volunteering for baseball with Greenwood.  His Legacy demonstrates the benefit of lifting others up and inspiring them to be what he knew we were capable of - the number of young people his life touched could well be into the thousands, and the number that their lives in turn will touch...who knows how many people will be touched or how far off that legacy will continue.

I am proud to have been so blessed as to have fallen under his guidance, and to have learned so much from him.  God Bless and R.I.P.

I was fortunate to have been able to call Norm a friend for many years . I'm a a better hockey person from my time with Norm  ,but , more importantly , a better person ! Norm truly cared about others and treated me as an equal , even when i was just starting out in hockey . A true gentleman , a true sportsman and a loyal friend !!!.....Norm will be sadly missed but the influence he had on many people will live on !

in 2000 during one of my sons tball games, I watched an older gentleman slowly come towards me in a Green and black Jacket with smile on his face, when he joins me he said "You're the Mother of that kid # 2 with the golden glove right? I have been watching him, he is a little short but I see something in him, he is going to be one good ball player" 

Mr. Norm Bryan, what an amazing contribution you had in this life.. the time you dedicated to children, your baseball league & your hockey scouting is nothing short of commendable. You seen kids come and go and held alot near and dear to your heart, you were a great man "Normy" I look back at my son's childhood sports years and the best times were with Toronto Greenwood. I won't ever forget you my "buddy"....

In loving memory of a kindhearted gentleman. As saddened as I am in Norm's passing I am forever grateful for all the richness that he brought into my life. Norm took time to support and mentor me when we scouted together. Norm also dedicated considerable time in helping under privileged youth in both baseball and hockey which speaks volumes of his character. I will forever cherish the times and memories we spent together. God Bless You & RIP my dear friend!
