Passed away peacefully at Toronto East General Hospital on January 26, 2018 in her 90th year. Born in MacLellan’s Brook, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Muriel was the youngest child of David and Annie ( Wallace) Henderson, formerly of Westville, NS. Muriel moved to Toronto in 1950 and was soon joined by her sister Frances. They lived together on Glenside Ave for over 50 years. Muriel was employed by Simpson’s initially prior to a lengthy career with the Gov’t of Ontario at Queen’s Park. She made countless friends through work and church life and was known for her dry sense of humor. She was passionate and well- informed as she cheered for the Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs.
Muriel was predeceased by her beloved sisters, Frances and Evelyn and dear brothers Andrew, Albert, Wallace, Arthur and Harry in infancy. Also her kind nephew Allan.
She is survived by her 9
cherished nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. The family is especially grateful to Rev. Charlotte Stuart for her kindness and support for Muriel. Thank- you to all the staff at Leaside Retirement Residence where Muriel enjoyed the last 4 years.
A Celebration of Muriel’s Life will be held at St John’s Presbyterian Church, 415 Broadview Ave on Sunday February 18 ,2018 with memorial visitation and lunch at 12:30 followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:30 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests donations to St John’s Presbyterian Church.
