Passing by the old house brings back memories of Mary and Rick’s barbecues and many parties. Mary knew how to have fun! Condolences to Rick and Stephen and Lizzie and all of us who still miss her lively presence.

A year has passed since you left us.  We miss you and hope you are at peace.  Heavenly hugs!


Sending our love and care to Steven and Rick and their family.  So saddened to hear of Mary's death.  It was wonderful for our families to share life on Arlington together and to have so many community and school memories in common.  Mary was a caring and engaged person in so many ways, smart and thoughtful with actions that matched her convictions.  Enjoyed visiting with her as I walked by when she was working to transform their front lawn into a beautiful garden.  Blessings on you in your loss and in the loving life you shared with Mary.

Mary was a person who knew how to have fun. When I think of Mary, I think of her wonderful full-hearted laugh. She could laugh till the tears came. I had the good fortune to meet Mary many years ago--she was the neighbour with the magnificent garden. She and hubby Rick had amazing bbqs. She arranged and planned raucous book club gatherings with the Ladies of Arlington. She enjoyed travelling--the trip to Cuba with several of the ladies was memorable. I have not laughed so long and hard in quite awhile. Mary painted pictures to commemorate that trip, one of  which I have here with me now. When I look at it, I feel Mary's love. My precious memories of her will stay in my heart forever. 

We are very sad to hear of Mary’s passing. We met because our sons were, and still are, good friends. My husband and I always enjoyed Mary’s wonderful get-togethers. Mary was a wonderful cook and amazing hostess. Our hearts go out to the loved ones she leaves behind.

With David and Stephen being the same age, we were fortunate to share lots of activities, playdates, pizza parties, and more.

Mary and I met through our sons - Stephen and Michael shared some fun times at our cottage - bad boy weeks - learning to waterski, etc.  But for me the moments spent with her and realizing what a strong, caring and pleasant personality she presented was what drew her to me.   She shared her stock market saviness with Claudio - be it trading in gold stocks or just chatting about what was trending in the day.  When I was diagnosed with cancer, she arrived laden with scones,  positivity and smiles that got me through some tough days.  I could go on and on about the memories - and in closing will quote not some dignified prophet, but the butler in Downton Abbey "The business of life is the acquisition of memories.  In the end, that's all there is."  Rest in peace my dear friend, knowing your suffering is over, and until we meet again,  Cheers!

Fun. The only way we can describe the time we spent with Mary in Vancouver. What a lovely, friendly, warm and joyful lady. Mary and Debbie seemed to particularly enjoy picking on the boys. I'm not sure what we could have possibly done to deserve it Rick, oh wait, we were talking non-stop shop, so we were an easy target. Time flew and we could have spent much longer together but more time wasn't necessary to realize what a courageous, caring, and honest  human being we had the distinct pleasure to be in the company of. 

We will always remember Mary.

I remember very clearly when I first met Mary— our boys were in the same junior kindergarten class . She was immediately friendly and had an infectious easy laugh.   She and Rick generously threw wonderful welcoming parties in their beautiful home.  She also  donated much of her time and energy to our community and it remains better for it.   I will miss her always, cherishing memories of lively dinner parties, strolling through the park with our dogs and the quiet honest talks that she was so good at.

I only knew Mary the last few years since meeting in the condo but between Book Club and Happy Hour and many other excursions, got to know her as a truly lovely, friendly and caring person and felt she had become a good friend. She will be missed. My deepest condolences to Rick and Steven and the rest of her family.

We are saddened by the news of Mary’s passing.  We are sending our condolences to Rick and their son and to the rest of the family.  

Mary was the first person I met when we moved into the neighbourhood 1999.  Her light and kind spirit was evident when she welcomed our family. We quickly became friends and spent many many days over the years exchanging plants for our gardens, sharing  joys and contemplating  life issues.  Oh, but her laughter.... this  is what I will remember the most...  I have been blessed with a wonderful soul  and I will miss you my dear friend....

Mary befriended our family from the moment we became neighbours and as such we become friends. She was kind, thoughtful and would do anything to help. In a challenging time for us Mary was there to provide comfort to my family, feed us, and kept a level head to help us through it. I’ve never forgotten that time and never will. My love and condolences to Rick and Steve, and all her loved ones. God Bless Mary. R.I.P.

Mary was a wonderful friend to me and my family and she will be greatly missed. I will never forget her compassion and generosity of spirit.  She was very smart and had a great sense of humour.  I will never forget the stories of a trip to LA that had us in stitches.  I will also never forget how kind she was to me. Love to Rick and Stephen
