To the McCabe and Fitzsimmons families: My deepest condolences at the loss of Mary Ellen, I always enjoyed our visits whenever she returned to Rockport.  She was always a very lovely, caring lady.  May she rest in peace.

Mom was well liked and had a lot of good friends. The front veranda was the meeting place where everyone came to "catch up".

Cause my Mom was there.

As a little boy(around 1960) almost half way through the school year, the teacher told my parents that I may have to repeat the grade. My mother gave me words of encouragement to 'just do your best'. The end of June that year, I was running down the street waving my report card high in the air yelling 'Mom I passed, I passed!'. Mom was standing at the end of the driveway with a big smile on her face and tears of joy in her eyes which I can still picture.

As a young man I travelled overseas a few times, and Mom would always drive me to the airport sometimes as early as 4 in the morning. When I returned to Toronto from my vacation walking through the sliding glass doors past customs, the first smiling face that I saw was my MOM; then I knew I was really home.

Throughout the years I have fond memories of sharring laughter and joy with Mom, and when there happened to be those few times of sadness and sorrow, somehow I just knew things would always work out. Cause my Mom was there.

Right now, I have a huge whole in my heart which I know will eventually heal because my MOM will forever be in my heart.

Mary Ellen was warm and welcoming to me throughout my life. I deeply appreciated the gifts of her kind nature, her understanding, and her wonderful sense of humour. She was always able to make me laugh...a wonderful quality to remember.  A life lived well.

Mary-Ellen was not just my mother-in-law, she was my second mom.

She was very kind and generous with a heart of gold.

Mary-Ellen was extremely proud of her boys and her granddaughters and loved them with her whole heart.

She will forever be a part of my heart and I am grateful she welcomed me into her family.

I will miss her terribly.

Time to say goodbye to my mentor, my inspiration, my Mom ("M").  

An exceptional life with incredible memories and unforgettable moments.  

"M" built my foundation, "M" made me challenge myself, "M" inspired me to cherish every moment and every person in those moments.  

"M" will always be part of my DNA and forever be in everything I touch.

Today I emotionally say goodbye, but fondly reflect on the 57 wonderful years I had the brilliant opportunity to say "hello"

I was exceptionally lucky to have such a brilliant mentor and extremely grateful that I got to call her my Mom, "M"
