August 3, 1923 – December 27, 2022
Passed away peacefully in her 100th year, with family at her side on December 27th, 2022 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences, Toronto.
Predeceased by her loving husband John Dix, her parents Richard Sheehy and Mary Bridget Sheehy (nee Dwyer) and her siblings Richard, Michael and Jacqueline (Babe) Sheehy. Ann is survived by her nieces Terry Madden (husband Patrick, son Sean, daughter Fiona) and Jackie Sheehy, and by her nephews Neil Sheehy (wife Carita, sons Ryan, Cameron and Matthew) and Ron Sheehy (wife Sue, sons Justin and Jason and daughter Jessica). The family wishes to acknowledge Ann’s many friends and neighbours who were so good to her over the many years.
Blessed with a strong Catholic faith and a determined spirit, Ann was also an engaging conversationalist with a warm sense of humour. She was deeply loved by her family, her lifelong friends and neighbours, and the many who were touched by her kindness and generosity over her very full life. Ann attended Loretto Abbey as a child and finished her long and varied working career there at age 95. Ann and John loved to travel and friends and family always enjoyed Ann’s love for her larger world. When Ann was not working, she was constantly devoted to giving back through various charitable endeavors such as the Canadian Cancer Society and Sunnybrook Hospital. Through her devotion and generosity, Ann was resolute in keeping her family connected through great traditions, like the Christmas dinners, which her family are so pleased to have kept right up to this December.
Ann will be greatly missed, but well remembered for a life of generosity, kindness, resilience and commitment to what she believed in, that inspired so many. She would not be swayed or deterred from what she believed important. God bless her angelic soul.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Sunnybrook Foundation.
