(May 31,1938-July 17,2024)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Krishna Lackan, who left us peacefully on July 17th 2024. He was 86 years old.
Krishna was the devoted husband of Nenita Lackan; having shared a life filled with love of family, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Across the span of five decades, they built a family that was the center of his world, rooted in their shared Catholic faith. As a testament of that love and devotion to Nenita, he stayed with her until their 52nd wedding anniversary which also occurred on July 17th, 2024.
A loving father to three children, Christine, Edward and Joseph, Krishna was a pillar of strength and wisdom. He was a dedicated father who sacrificed much to provide his children with the opportunities he never experienced in his youth. His unwavering commitment to their well-being and success was a testament to his selfless nature. He was also kind and thoughtful to his daughter-in-law Denise and son-in-law, Edouard.
Krishna was also a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Xavier, Ethan, Emma, Grace, Tobias, Miles and Alexandre. His love for them knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment, whether it was sharing stories, offering guidance, helping raise them or simply enjoying time together. His legacy of unconditional love and support will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
Beyond his immediate family, Krishna was the one of the first to immigrate to Canada from Trinidad and was a guiding light for his extended family as well. When relatives first arrived, Krishna was always there to lend a helping hand, ensuring they felt welcomed and supported in their new home. His generosity and kindness inspired by his faith, left an indelible mark on many lives. He had 7 loving brothers and 2 sisters and is survived by Bridgelal, Sonkie, Premchan and Leela Lackan.
Krishna’s life was a celebration of joy and compassion. He embraced every moment, finding happiness in the simplest of things. His vibrant spirit, warm smile, and caring heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A viewing will be held at Giffen-Mack and Trull Funeral Home on Thursday, July 25, 2024 between 5-8 pm. The funeral mass service to honour Krishna’s life will be held on July 26, 2024, at 10 AM at St. Michael’s Cathedral Church followed by a procession to Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Sunnybrook Hospital or a charity of your choice in Krishna’s memory.
Krishna Lackan will forever remain in our hearts as a loving husband, father, father in law, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. May he rest in peace in the loving embrace of our Lord.
