John Angus McKay, aged 70, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024, at Michael Garron Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and chosen family. He is now reunited with his daughter, Andrea, whom he loves deeply. John's strength and resilience were evident throughout his courageous battle with cancer over the past 7 years, and now he rests in peace.
John leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend of over 47 years, Carol, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. John was a brother to Jane, Jim, Michael, Peter and Annie. He was the beloved father of Andrea and Victoria, and his presence will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Lincoln and Pryor, who held a special place in his heart, who endearingly referred to him as “Papa”.
John's life was marked by adventure and connection. He and Carol first met while backpacking through the Rocky Mountains. Their shared love for nature and exploration laid the foundation for a lifetime of companionship, mutual respect and lots of love.
John's legacy extends beyond his family, as he touched the lives of all he met, with his warmth, humor, and kindness. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Though he may be gone from our sight, John's spirit will forever remain in our hearts, the stories we continue to share of his life and our cherished memories together.
John, you will be missed beyond belief, but your legacy of love, kindness and courage will endure for generations to come
