A truly unique, wonderful, beautiful, strong, compassionate, iconic woman who we all had the great joy to call our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend.
She leaves behind her eight children, Peter Hibberd, Michael (Diane) Hibberd, Graeme (Elizabeth) Hibberd, Jennifer Hibberd (Kees Van Winters), John (Alma) Hibberd, Christopher (Avril) Hibberd, Catherine Hibberd (Peter Cockett) and Robert Hibberd; her 35 grandchildren, Christopher (Anistasia), Rhianna, James (Kassondra), Ashley “Ally”, Sarah (Jon); Andrew (Justine), David (Courtney), Taryn (Derek), Daniella (Robbie), Katherine “Katie”, Steven (Jessica), Alexandra; Christine (Andre), Jennifer (Matthew), Shannon (Chris), John (Danielle), Meghan (Chris), Matthew (Alexandra), Michael (Laura), Alicia (Terry), Savannah; Jennifer, Christopher, Candelyse; Aramae; Paul, Mark, Lisa; Bryn, Spencer; Jonathan “JJ”, Eloise “Ella”, Natasha “Tish”, Sophia, and Charles; and her 26 (soon to be 28) great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John Hunt Hibberd on December 22, 1973.
She was an incomparable woman, bright, independent, strong and with very clear ideas. She was admired for her determination for living life her own way. Dr. Joan Hibberd was a pioneering woman in the field of dentistry and a world-renowned periodontist previously operating her practice on Harley Street prior to her retirement. Her professional and educational accomplishments are only outshone by her vivacious personality and the family she created who will carry on her legacy.
In celebration of her life, a mass will be held on Saturday December 30, 2023 at 11am at Holy Rosary Parish, 354 St. Clair Ave. W.
Informal reception to follow at 199 Stibbard Avenue for sharing memories with refreshments and wine.
