James Stewart Harvey

Peacefully at the Toronto East General Hospital on Thursday, June 23, 2016 in his 82nd year. James, beloved husband of the late Shirley Harvey, loving father of Elizabeth (Allen), Stewart (Ingrid), Scott and Bill. Dear Grandpa of Steven, Ashley, Andrew, Rebecca, Justin and Conner. Great Grandfather of Sydney, Ethan and Lila. Predeceased by his sister May. James will be dearly missed by his special friend Amy Young and his many nieces, nephews and all who knew him. Family and friends will be received at the GIFFEN-MACK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 2570 Danforth Avenue (at Main St. subway) on Wednesday, June 29 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday, June 30 from 11 a.m. up until time of service in the chapel at 1 p.m. Interment, Resthaven Memorial Gardens. As expression of sympathy, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

God saw you getting tired

A cure was not to be,

So He put His arms around you,

and whispered,

"Come To Me."

With tearful eyes we watched

you and saw you fade away.

Although we loved you dearly,

we could not make you stay.

Many times we thought of you,

many times we've cried,

If love alone could save you

you never would have died.

A golden heart stopped beating,

your tender hands at rest,

God took you home to prove

to us

He only takes the best.
